Vacation Bible School

Dear Parents:

This summer, the Church of the Good Shepherd is partnering with the Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) to present “Summer Thunder,” a five-day vacation Bible school (VBS). The VBS will run from July 7-11 from 9:30 -- 12:00 a.m. and is designed for children in grades K through 5. The program is nondenominational and open to all children at no cost.

The theme of this year’s VBS is “The Wordless Book.” Our goal in the very brief time that we have together is to acquaint our children with some basic texts from the Old and New Testament of the Bible. We will hear Bible stories, play games, sing songs, make craft projects, and memorize Bible verses that are aimed to communicate the lessons provided in Holy Scripture. In doing so we will explore how we can grow in God’s love. And of course, there will be mid-morning snacks!

Four volunteers from the parish of the Good Shepherd all have taught church school in the past and several have taught school in Central America. We will be partnering with two trained counselors from Camp Good News in Charlestown. The children will meet in the Parish Hall of Good Shepherd. We will also be able to use the first floor of the Old Town Hall.

Registration for VBS will take place beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7 at Good Shepherd. Each child be accompanied by a parent in order that we can obtain parental permission for the child to attend. For planning purposes, we would appreciate a phone call to 603-835-7900 or e-mail to dwmoody@beaverwood.com to reserve a space for your child. Just leave a short message with your name, phone number, and the name and age of your child, and we will get back to you. We shall be happy to answer any questions that you might have regarding our summer program.

In a turbulent and often frightening world, we take comfort in the knowledge that God loves us and provides us guidance as to how to live our lives through the lessons provided in Holy Scripture. We hope that we can have the opportunity to share this knowledge with you and your children.

In Christ’s Service,
David +
